RPS is looking for a Senior Landscape Architect/Landscape Planner to join our established Landscape Design and Assessment Team, part of our wider UK Planning Division. This will be great opportunity for a consultant or senior level candidate who is ready for the next stage in their career. The role can be based in Southampton, Abingdon, Birmingham or Manchester and we can offer flexible working arrangements. We are a leading provider of landscape architecture and urban design services to the private sector and local and central government. We help our clients to achieve their goals and overcome the increasingly complex challenges posed by the sustainable development and management of the urban, rural & coastal landscapes and offshore seascapes.

The role

This role will involve you in all aspects of projects, giving you broad experience within the industry and exposure to a wide range of exciting and interesting work from a large portfolio of clients.You’ll be part of a multi-disciplinary environment working with highly experienced and collaborative colleagues. There is a genuine ethos of ensuring a good work/life balance within this diverse and friendly team.

You will manage and oversee small to medium sized projects from commencement to completion as well as working as part of a team on larger and strategic project and keeping within the given cost budgets and time scales. You’ll be using AutoCAD to produce designs and will be involved in research, site visits, appraisals, design, report writing and advice letters. Additionally, you may potentially appear and speak at committees, informal hearings, and examinations in public (assistance will be provided where necessary). With the support of senior colleagues, you’ll start to manage more junior members of the landscape team in the delivery of projects as well as prepare and contribute to fee proposals and work plans enabling you to progress you career and enhance your skill set.

Your skills and experience

Ideally, we like you to be a Chartered Landscape Architect. You'll have good report writing skills and design flare coupled with experience of detail design and construction. A good working knowledge of AutoCAD is essential and solid experience of working as a Landscape Architect/Planner.

Good financial and project management skills are a must, as are great influencing and communication skills that enable you to build, maintain and consolidate strong working relationships with colleagues, clients and external bodies.
There will be some travel so a full UK driving licence is required.
