About this role

RPS is looking for an EIA consultant to join us at our busy and vibrant head office near Oxford, or to be based at our offices across the UK (Brighton, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, Chepstow, Edinburgh).We are working on some of the most exciting Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects in the UK and internationally at the moment including as lead for the new BP/EnBW Offshore Wind Farms, international interconnectors, Gatwick Airport Northern Runway Project and innovative battery storage and energy projects across the UK. Our team works with AWE and Radioactive Waste Management (RWM), as well as many major energy companies. Our track record in renewables, transport and net zero carbon means that we gain repeat business across these sectors.

This will be a great move for a candidate who is ready for the next stage in their career. This role has the potential to include a mix of team work from our office and working from home and will increase your experience across a variety of projects from small to large long-term flagship projects, across primarily infrastructure (airports, highways, energy and waste), leisure and residential industry.

Your role

RPS is a leading global environmental consultancy. We specialise in all areas of the built and natural environment, shaping the future of our environmental, social and economic landscapes. You’ll be working within a multi-disciplinary environment with highly experienced and collaborative colleagues. You will have the opportunity to be part of a highly regarded environmental team, including leading industry experts as well as partner with the wider RPS Health Impact Assessment, sustainability, climate change, planning, landscape, ecology, heritage and transport teams.

You’ll manage a range of EIA projects within a consultancy environment and provide advice on EIA Regulations and screen, scope and produce Environmental Statements and a typical week could include:

Work on major EIA projects for internal and external clients.
Working with our experienced EIA team to manage multi-disciplinary teams (internal and external) for nationally significant infrastructure projects. Many of these teams are based within the Oxford office, facilitating close working with transport, landscape, ecology, heritage and planning teams.
Drafting reports.
Detailed technical review of ES chapters in preparation for client or legal review.
Working with our digital and design teams to further develop our capacity in digital EIA.

Your skills/experience

You will need to have excellent report writing skills, be able to work collaboratively and have the ability to work with clients legal teams and other consultancies. A good eye for detail is essential as is strong problem-solving skills, helping to address client concerns and ‘make complex easy’.

We’d like you to have a first degree in a relevant environmental subject and ideally an MSc in a relevant topic e.g. Environmental Impact Assessment, Environmental Management or similar. You’ll have some experience in working in a consultancy or related sector and an understanding of what is required to manage EIA projects. A desire to work in the offshore wind and the radioactive waste/nuclear industries would be an advantage.

There will be some travel so a full UK driving license is required.
