RPS is looking for an Archaeological Consultant/Senior Archaeological Consultant to join the Heritage Team, part of our UK Planning Division. The Heritage Team is renowned for its deep expertise in archaeology, built heritage, historic landscapes and industrial archaeology. Our projects are mainly across the East and South Midlands and ideally we would like you to attend the Newark office on a weekly basis (we are able offer a hybrid home/office working arrangement). RPS is a leading global multi-disciplinary consultancy. We specialise in all areas of the built and natural environment.

The role


You’ll be joining a strong collaborative team that includes: architects, landscape architects, surveyors, art historians, conservation officers, buildings, archaeologists, planners and urban designers who are highly-skilled, committed and passionate professionals.

The position will involve preparation of DBAs/ES chapters and WSIs. You will be supported and mentored with a view to progression to manage fieldwork projects – predominantly in East and South Midlands but also further afield. You’ll be using CAD and ArcGIS and other standard graphics packages

RPS is always interested in hearing from archaeologists looking to make a career in consultancy. If you think that you have a skill-set/client base and/or the experience to apply for a more senior position we would also be delighted to hear from you.

Your skills/experience

We are looking for are bright, ambitious archaeologists with commercial experience. Ideally you should have first or second degree in Archaeology or a related subject and be an Associate for above with CIfA. You need never have written a DBA previously, but you must have an aptitude to prepare clear, commercially focused reports to a deadline.
