About the role

This role will require an experienced individual to provide a high level of expertise in in all fields relating to Energy and Sustainability. You will be required to develop and implement an Energy and Sustainability Strategy to achieve the Council Targets and objectives in line with government policies. This will involve providing support and providing advice to Stakeholders, and project led areas, regarding Energy savings, asset performance, specifications, and systems in relation to energy & sustainability.

In addition, you will be required to work with existing schemes relating to Energy & Sustainability and further develop Resident Engagement programmes and initiatives relating to advice on fuel poverty, energy savings and associated items.

About you

You will maintain energy rating scores relative to properties within the Housing Stock and oversee improvement of the individual ratings to achieve Council targets and, support and provide advice to Capital, Major works, Repairs, and other projects led areas regarding Energy savings, assets, specifications, and systems in relation to energy & sustainability.

You will also be able to attend regular meetings to share and support Residents and Stakeholders with energy saving practices alongside processing and validating data from various sites on a central database. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate and have the ability to support other members of the team and company as required to meet personal, team and organisational objectives, developing educational materials to improve staff awareness and behavioural practices.

  • Key Responsibilities
  • Work with existing schemes relating to Energy & Sustainability and further develop Resident Engagement programmes and initiatives relating to advice on fuel poverty, energy savings and associated items.
  • Attend and represent HFH at open days, community events and internal events relating to energy and sustainability.
  • Champion the cause for Energy and Sustainability on behalf of HFH at wider events and industry events.
  • Manage standalone projects for community betterment such as cycle storage, recycling schemes etc
  • Act as the conduit for knowledge, development, and regulatory/compliance information for the organisation, keeping updated and hold relationships with industry and Housing sector groups
  • Undertake and co-ordinate energy audits across the Housing stock and Corporate BuildingsWorking with multiple parties and stakeholders to achieve Haringey Council targets for energy reduction
  • Prepare and present regular reports on energy and measurable progress with recommendations for actions, improvements, or innovation to reduce the use of energy and improve sustainability and achieve relevant targets.
  • Create training guides for departments, Managers and Staff regarding energy management
  • Develop an Energy & Sustainability

Essential Knowledge & Experience

  • Experience of implementing or managing the ISO 14001 Environmental Management standard within an organisation
  • Proven track record in working within a similar organisation directly in relation to Energy & Sustainability
  • To hold or working towards IEMA membership.
  • Experience in delivering Energy & Sustainability projects
  • Have a working knowledge of energy utility systems
  • Demonstrable proficiency in Microsoft OfficeHaving strong quantitative and technical skillsPersuading staff, the importance of reducing energy consumption
  • Keeping up to date with changes in the regulatory landscapeCommunicating with difficult to reach Residents and getting buy into changes
  • Demonstrating long term cost savings over short term savings
  • Reporting on tangible progress in energy and sustainability.

Essential Qualifications

  • A Relevant qualification in environmental sciences, Project Management, environmental management, or sustainability, (MSc Energy & sustainability or similar).
