RPS is looking for an expert in heritage planning to join us in a senior role as a Director in the archaeology and built heritage team, part of our UK wide Planning Division. Your role

As Director, you’ll be responsible for helping to lead a team of professionals in their built heritage discipline and also working as part of multi-disciplinary team, including, where necessary, assuming the overall Project Director role.

This is a key position where you will have line management responsibilities for staff and will be a mentor to the team, developing their professional skills and capabilities. You’ll be contributing towards the success of the Business Unit and team through the effective delivery of projects, ensuring development of key client relationships and the securing of new business.

You’ll be managing client relationships, successfully securing and completing instructions and contributing to the Business Unit’s wider business development initiatives. You’ll be responsible for generating new and repeat business, as well as providing professional consultancy advice and services to our clients and colleagues.

Your skills/experience

Ideally you should have first or second degree in Built Heritage or a related subject and be an associate of the IHBC. You’ll be an expert in your field, a highly experienced and competent practitioner with strong leadership qualities. You’ll be knowledgeable within at least 2 key sectors or geographies and in the analysis, interpretation, exploitation and implementation of legislation and policy applicable to their discipline

You’ll have strong people management capabilities, be a creative and strategic thinker with strong negotiating techniques and a track record of taking ownership of and achieving outcomes for clients, business, teams and self. You will have an established market reputation with a demonstrable record of winning sustainable and commercially viable projects. Good financial and project management skills are essential, as are great influencing and communication skills that enable you to build, maintain and consolidate strong working relationships with colleagues, clients and external bodies.
