We are currently recruiting for a highly motivated Hydrologist to join the growing team within the water/environment section in RPS Belfast, working on a range of environmental projects across Ireland and the UK.

About The Role:


Completing site walkover surveys, mapping key hydrological features and reporting key site characteristics back to senior staff.

Installation and continuous maintenance of hydrological monitoring equipment such as water level transducers, water quality meters and flow monitoring stations.

Completing topographic surveys using differential GPS to inform design proposals.

Liaising with landowners/farmers to discuss proposals, addressing concerns and reporting feedback to senior staff.

Ensuring all the data collected from the field is downloaded/written up on a weekly basis and passed on to senior staff members in the correct format.

Analysis of data and preparation of hydrological reports.

Key tasks will include:

Completing hydrological/hydrogeological analysis of groundwater monitoring data.

Preparing hydrogeological cross-sections to inform site characterisation.

Problem solving and developing solutions to hydrogeological/environmental issues.

Installation and continuous maintenance of hydrogeological monitoring equipment such as water level transducers, water quality meters and flow monitoring stations.

Support junior members of staff, providing technical training and manage project implementation.

Liaising with landowners/farmers to discuss proposals, addressing concerns and reporting feedback to senior staff.

Collection and analysis of data. Followed by preparation of hydrogeological reports.

Input to tenders and the preparation of fee proposals.


Essential criteria

Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject area (civil/environmental engineering, or MSc in hydrology/hydrogeology

Knowledge of hydrogeological processes and their influences on groundwater/environmental issues.

Experience conducting hydrogeological field investigations and developing conceptual site models

Previous experience tendering and managing large scale projects

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and GIS systems.

Valid driving licence.

Willingness to travel across Ireland and UK, including overnight visits to complete duties.
