An exciting vacancy has arisen at the London Fire Brigade for a project manager to work within the Technical Services and Support Property Group on major building projects at fire stations, offices and other ancillary facilities within the London area.

The client side project manager will be responsible for all of the client side project management duties including leading on the project inception phase, agreeing briefs with internal stakeholders, producing detailed cost reports, monitoring and reporting on the project delivery phase, commissioning feasibility studies / option appraisals, report writing to obtain board approvals , managing consultants, contractors and internal work streams. We are looking for candidates at quantity surveyor level, who would like the opportunity to progress, take on increasing responsibilities on a daily basis and to form part of a team to ultimately grow and develop their own skills and experience.

Currently, the major projects that the TSS Property are delivering or planning are:

• Carbon reduction projects at multiple sites to remove gas dependency
• Complete refurbishment project of Plumstead Fire Station in South East London
• Multi million pound capital construction programme across the estate for the next three years
• Providing new training facilities to assist operational development
• LFB headquarters relocation project
• Wide spread accommodation improvements throughout the estate
• Lambeth River Station – replacement /refurbishment of the existing river station boat mooring and accommodation

Applicants will need to demonstrate a sound understanding of project management methodologies, preferably in a building and construction context, as well as the tenacity and drive to lead project delivery. They will also have experience of working flexibly in a team and respond effectively to changing priorities in order to meet deadlines and targets.
